I was born in Belarus, in a town not too far from its capital, Minsk. I had a happy childhood living in the USSR, but my parents wanted to give me a brighter future. So, in 1992, my parents, grandparents and aunt, with my sister, my cousin and me in tow, immigrated to America.

I was born in Belarus, in a town not too far from its capital, Minsk. I had a happy childhood living in the USSR, but my parents wanted to give me a brighter future. So, in 1992, my parents, grandparents and aunt, with my sister, my cousin and me in tow, immigrated to America.
Today, I live with my amazing wife and three children in our home outside Chicago. I am an architect by trade so, when I am not writing children's books, I design and build stuff (as my kids like to say). We are a typical American family, that is special in its own way.
The idea for this book was born in 2013, during a conversation with a good friend, born and bred in the USA. I was describing my connection to the world I left behind, and though it was a subject completely foreign to him, it resonated. At that moment, I understood that I have to bring this story to the kids of America.
